Car accidents: High-speed crash injures 1, kills 1 in Montana

Those who operate a vehicle at excessive speeds are inherently less capable of reacting to a variety of driving scenarios. Drivers who encounter reckless drivers may also have little time to respond to the situation and car accidents involving such negligence can have disastrous consequences. A recent collision that took place under similar circumstances in Montana has left one person with serious injuries and claimed the life of another.

According to reports, the accident occurred at around 3 p.m. on a recent Wednesday when a driver lost control of her car and crossed into an oncoming lane. After entering the wrong lane of traffic, her car collided with a nearby vehicle head-on. The driver of the car was reportedly pronounced dead soon thereafter, and the driver of the second vehicle was transported to a medical facility with serious injuries.

Police have advised that the accident remains under investigation and that alcohol doesn't appear to have been a contributing factor. They also say that several witnesses reported that the car was traveling at excessive speeds shortly before the incident took place. When moving at a high rate of speed, it may take little more than a moment of distraction for a vehicle to travel several hundred feet in the wrong direction, and the consequences of a similar incident can be catastrophic.

Those who suffer serious harm in car accidents due to the negligent actions of another driver may be entitled to pursue restitution accordingly. Since the civil justice system can be challenging to navigate, a person in Montana could benefit from speaking with an attorney early on for assistance. An attorney can examine the incident, along with a client's injuries and financial needs, and assist in pursuing the restitution deserved through a personal injury claim.
