Car accidents: U-turn in traffic causes devastating crash

While not illegal in every scenario, making a U-turn in traffic can be a hazardous maneuver. Drivers who fail to ensure the way is clear prior to navigating a U-turn could create an unfortunate scenario, and car accidents involving such negligence can have disastrous results. An accident that took place under similar circumstances in Montana has left two individuals with injuries and killed two others.

The Montana Highway Patrol advised the incident took place at around 10:30 a.m. on a recent Friday. According to reports, the driver of a southbound car decided to stop and make a U-turn and subsequently pulled directly into the path of an oncoming truck. The driver of the truck was unable to react quickly enough to avoid collision and slammed into the car at highway speeds.

The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene, and although his passenger was rushed to a hospital for treatment, she died shortly after arrival. Both the driver and a passenger in the truck were also taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment of injuries. Drivers who attempt to make similar maneuvers can place the safety of everyone around at risk and those who are given little time to react to such negligence may suffer severely.

Car accidents can have disastrous consequences and those who suffer serious harm due to the actions or decisions of another party may wish to exercise their right to pursue accountability through the civil justice system. Following an accident, a person could choose to speak with an experienced attorney for guidance on the available options for legal recourse. An attorney in Montana can examine the incident thoroughly and assist a client in pursuing the restitution deserved through a personal injury claim.
