Car accidents: Multi-truck crash injures 2, kills 2 in Montana

A recent collision involving several commercial vehicles has left two with injuries and killed two others in Montana. Due to the inherent increase in size and weight, car accidents involving commercial vehicles run a much higher chance of causing severe or fatal injuries to all parties involved. Those who suffer harm or loss in such an incident may wish to pursue restitution, but determining liability can be a stressful and challenging task.

The Montana Highway Patrol advised that the incident began when the driver of a tractor-trailer lost control of his vehicle, subsequently causing it to turn sideways and spill lumber onto the road. The driver of a second semi-truck was unable to stop in time to avoid collision and veered through the median. This person attempted to avoid oncoming traffic by exiting the truck and jumping over a guardrail, and he unfortunately fell over 100 feet in the process and died at the scene.

As many as three other trucks were also involved in the crash. One driver suffered major injuries after he was ejected from his vehicle, while the driver of the fifth truck was killed in the crash. Many of the details concerning what caused the driver of the first truck to lose control remain unclear and authorities asset that the incident remains under investigation.

While all car accidents run the risk of ending in disaster, those involving commercial vehicles can be especially dangerous. Individuals who suffer serious harm or lose a loved one in such an incident could benefit from speaking with an attorney for guidance on the available options for legal recourse. An attorney can examine the accident and assist a client in pursuing the compensation deserved through a claim against the party or parties deemed responsible.
