Car accidents: High speed chase leads to fatal collision

While being involved in a routine traffic stop can be stressful, attempting to evade authorities is never advisable. The health of those who ride as passengers with a driver who exhibits such negligence could be placed at risk in the process, as high speed chases have higher odds of resulting in dangerous car accidents. A recent collision involving similar circumstances in Montana has left two individuals with injuries and killed a 17-year-old boy.

Law enforcement agents advised the incident began on a recent Friday night when they encountered a vehicle that was traveling at a high rate of speed. Upon attempting to initiate a traffic stop, police assert that the driver began to flee, leading them on a high speed chase. Upon approaching a curve in the road, the driver lost control of her vehicle and ran off course.

Authorities advised that upon leaving the road, the vehicle began to overturn, ejecting two of the occupants in the process. The driver and one of the passengers suffered unspecified injuries in the crash, while the other passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. In addition to excessive speeding, police also advised that impairment appears to have been a contributing factor.

Fatal car accidents can be devastating incidents that leave a family grieving over the sudden loss of someone close. When another party's negligent actions cause this loss, a family could choose to consult with a personal injury attorney for guidance on their available legal avenues. An attorney can examine the incident thoroughly and assist a client in Montana in pursuing the full amount of compensation entitled through a wrongful death claim.
